CLOTHING BRAND LAUNCH

Need a clothing manufacturer for your startup? Start with a sample, not a huge MOQ.

Most new brands do not need 500–1,000 units before they know whether a product works. Start with a tech pack, sketch, reference image or a product from our catalog. We organize the Vietnam factory route, sample and first production terms before you commit to bulk.

No tech pack yet? That does not have to stop the project. Start from a reference, product idea or existing garment; we turn it into a clear specification, confirm the real MOQ and get the sample approved before bulk production.

Choose the clothing model before you choose the factory

Different launch models create different risk. A proven blank with print or embroidery is faster and easier to test. A private-label blank adds more brand control. Full cut-and-sew gives the most differentiation but requires more development, approvals and usually more capital.

  • Blank + decoration for speed.
  • Private-label blank for stronger identity.
  • Cut-and-sew when fit, fabric or construction is the product advantage.

Start with one hero garment

A focused first garment makes sizing, photography, inventory and marketing easier to understand. You can learn whether the market responds to the brand before multiplying complexity across many silhouettes.

  • Pick one main fit and material direction.
  • Limit early colors to the combinations you can market clearly.
  • Use a size range you can support consistently.

Approve fit, fabric and decoration on a sample

Clothing is physical. GSM, hand feel, collar construction, shoulder shape, shrinkage, print behavior and embroidery density are not solved by a logo file. The approved sample should become the production reference.

  • Review garment measurements, not only the labeled size.
  • Test the real print or embroidery method.
  • Record labels, placement and packaging as part of the specification.

Private label should make the garment recognizable

A brand can start with subtle details: neck label, size label, hangtag, woven side label, packaging or a controlled decoration system. The goal is a coherent customer experience, not adding every possible trim on the first run.

  • Make brand elements repeatable across reorders.
  • Keep care and origin information accurate.
  • Do not claim fabric or manufacturing facts that the production record does not support.

Build the launch around content, not inventory

Fashion is sold visually and emotionally. Before scaling production, create product shots, model content and short-form concepts that explain who the garment is for. Test different hooks while the first commitment is still manageable.

  • Use TikTok, Reels, Shorts, Marketplace or your own store as test surfaces.
  • Measure which product, word, color or story attracts attention.
  • Treat comments and messages as qualitative research, not only engagement.

Reorder the winner, not the original plan

The market may prefer a color, fit or message you did not expect. A disciplined clothing brand uses the first drop to learn, then concentrates cash and marketing on the combinations that actually move.

  • Increase quantities in stages.
  • Add new products only when they serve the same customer or proven demand.
  • Use repeat orders to improve cost and production terms.

FAQ

Questions before you start

Should I use print-on-demand or private label for my first clothing brand?

POD is useful when you want minimal inventory and very fast testing. Private label is useful when you need stronger product identity, better control over trims or unit economics at volume. Many brands can test a concept with POD and move proven demand into private-label production.

What is a realistic first MOQ for clothing?

There is no universal number. Current ShopLink AI catalog routes often start around 100 pieces for a standard product, while exact MOQ depends on style, color, fabric, customization and factory setup. We confirm the number before production.

Can ShopLink AI help with labels and packaging?

Yes, where the chosen production route supports them. Labels, hangtags, packaging and other branding details are specified and priced per project.

Can I sell in the United States if production is in Vietnam?

Yes. Vietnam is a major apparel manufacturing base. The practical requirements are a compliant product, accurate import classification, suitable logistics and a sales/fulfillment plan for the target market.

Do I need fashion design experience?

Not necessarily for a blank-based or straightforward private-label launch. More original cut-and-sew products require stronger technical development, patterns and sampling.
